Lead design, front-end developer for Business Insider. Consultant for 10gen and MongoDB. Working for startups requires flexibility and willingness to venture out of your comfort zone. These experiences have turned me into a developer, designer and director. I enjoy being part of a team, critiquing, managing, and working on a project from start to finish.
I have freelanced since 1998, working full-time since 2001. The last ten years have been loaded with a great deal of projects, developing identities, web sites, user interfaces, widgets, wikis, blogs, tools, advertisements, illustrations and print. Favorite languages include object oriented JavaScript, Actionscript, PHP, HTML5 and CSS. I am passionate about process, design, visual fundamentals, typography, and usability.
I also like to have fun outside of work. I am a proud father, enjoy movies, love music, write songs, play guitar, bicycle, play tennis, dabble in video games and snowboarding.
I have a Bachelor of Arts (Art Education with teaching certificate K-12) from Miami University. Favorite artists include Robert Rauschenberg, Toulouse-Lautrec, Jasper Johns, Franz Kline, Roy Lichtenstein, Diego Rivera, Pierre Bonnard, Egon Schiele, and a few obvious choices such as Picasso and Van Gogh.
